Celta Vigo is reportedly weighing the option to make Ilaix Moriba’s loan move from RB Leipzig permanent, following an impressive run of performances from the 21-year-old midfielder.
Moriba, whose contract with Leipzig runs until 2026, has been loaned to the Spanish side for the current season with a purchase option set at €4.5 million.
According to football journalist Florian Plettenberg, Celta Vigo’s management is satisfied with Moriba’s contributions and is contemplating triggering the buy clause in his loan agreement.
Since joining Celta Vigo, Moriba has become a key figure in the team’s midfield, starting in most matches over recent weeks.
The Guinean international has featured in 15 of Celta’s 18 league games this season, providing one assist and accumulating 874 minutes of playing time.
His consistent performances have made him an integral part of the squad under coach Carlos Carvalhal.
Moriba, who previously played for FC Barcelona before his move to RB Leipzig, has shown significant growth during his time in Spain.
Despite being valued at €3 million on Transfermarkt, the €4.5 million fee for a permanent transfer reflects his potential and importance to Celta Vigo’s midfield.
As the loan agreement nears its conclusion, Celta Vigo faces the decision of whether to secure Moriba’s services on a full-time basis, with the young player continuing to impress in La Liga.
