Celta Vigo condemn Celtic to third straight Europa League defeat

Celta Vigo came from behind to beat Celtic 2-1 at Celtic Park and claim their first points of the Europa League campaign.

Mika Bauer put the home side ahead shortly after half-time, but Javi Rodriguez scored twice in a decisive spell to complete the comeback for the Spanish club.

Celtic took the lead in the 47th minute when a cross from Egypt international Haitham Hassan struck a Celta Vigo defender and fell to Bauer. The forward reacted first and finished into the net.

Celta Vigo levelled in the 68th minute. Hugo Alvarez delivered an accurate cross into the area and Javi Rodriguez met it with a powerful header that gave Celtic no chance.

Just a few minutes later, Rodriguez struck again to put the visitors in front. His second goal came from a powerful effort outside the penalty area which flew into the Celtic goal.

The result gives Celta Vigo three points after the opening three rounds of the competition.

Celtic, meanwhile, remain without a point and have now lost all three of their Europa League matches.
