Cédric Makiadi Joins Turkish Club Rizespor After Leaving Werder Bremen
Cédric Makiadi, the Congolese international midfielder, has left Werder Bremen after spending three seasons with the German club. The 30-year-old, who had made 50 appearances and scored one goal for Werder Bremen, has signed with Rizespor, a Turkish club. His contract with the Bundesliga outfit was set to run until 2016, but Makiadi has opted for a new challenge in Turkey.
While the length of the contract and the transfer fee have not been disclosed, Makiadi’s move marks the end of his stint in the Bundesliga, where he previously played for Freiburg and Wolfsburg. He trained at Wolfsburg’s youth academy and spent two seasons with Werder Bremen after joining in 2013.
Makiadi has been a regular fixture in the DR Congo national team since 2007, earning 25 caps and scoring two goals. He represented his country in the 2013 and 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN), helping them secure third place in the most recent tournament.
Makiadi will now aim to make his mark in Turkey with Rizespor as he embarks on the next chapter of his career.
