CD Lugo complete Mo Dauda deal as Ghana winger returns to Spain

Ghana winger Mo Dauda has joined CD Lugo from Portuguese club Portimonense on a free transfer, returning to Spain for a new spell in the Primera Federacion.

The 28-year-old has agreed a contract with Lugo until 30 June 2027. Dauda, who plays on the left wing and prefers his right foot, moves to the Spanish club after one season with Portimonense in Liga Portugal 2.

Dauda made the switch from Portugal on 13 August 2026. He had not made an appearance for Portimonense in the 2026-27 campaign before completing his move to Lugo, where he will continue his career in Spain’s third tier.

The Larabanga-born player previously spent two seasons with CD Tenerife, joining the club from Belgian side RSC Anderlecht on a free transfer in July 2023. During his time with Tenerife, he had a loan spell at Eldense in the second half of the 2023-24 season before returning to the club.

Dauda then moved temporarily to UD Ibiza for the 2024-25 campaign. He returned to Tenerife at the end of that loan before leaving Spain again, joining Portimonense as a free agent on 1 September 2025.

His career has also included loan spells with FC Cartagena, Esbjerg fB and Vitesse while he was contracted to Anderlecht. He moved to the Belgian club’s under-21 side from Ghanaian club Asante Kotoko in January 2017 before progressing to the senior team.

Dauda’s arrival gives Lugo an experienced wide player with a career that has taken him through football in Ghana, Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark, Portugal and Spain. His previous time in Spanish football came with Tenerife, Ibiza and Eldense, making Lugo his fourth club in the country.

The winger joins Lugo with a market value of €175,000 and becomes contracted to the club through the end of the 2026-27 season. Mo Dauda’s free transfer from Portimonense to CD Lugo was completed on 13 August 2026.
