Ziguinchor-based football club Casa Sports, following a challenging start to the Ligue 1 season, secured a significant victory against Génération Foot last Sunday, marking a pivotal moment for the team.
General Manager Siaka Bodian expressed optimism about Casa Sports regaining its former glory and climbing up the league rankings.
After an eight-day wait, Casa Sports emerged victorious with a 1-0 win against Génération Foot at the Kolda municipal stadium.
The triumph, under the guidance of interim coach Cheikh Cissé, serves as a beacon of hope for the Ziguinchor pennant club, despite maintaining their last position in the championship.
Siaka Bodian, the General Manager of Casa Sports, emphasized that signs of the team’s awakening were evident even in defeats.
With exception to the match against Diambars, Casa demonstrated resilience and determination.
The turning point, according to Bodian, was the 7th-day match against Jaraaf, where the team displayed notable improvements in quality of play, offensive and defensive efficiency.
“Before the seventh day against Jaraaf, we suffered in terms of quality of play, offensive and defensive inefficiency.
Against Jaraaf, the team played at a level above what they used to.
There was fluidity in the game, opportunities to score – a real reaction from the team in terms of aggressiveness, quality of play, and rivalry with the opponent,” remarked Siaka Bodian in an interview with APS.
Casa Sports’ management believes that the victory against Génération Foot is the beginning of a positive trajectory.
Siaka Bodian expressed confidence in the team’s potential for further success, stating, “We were convinced that it was not too far away – the moment when Casa would wake up, and it happened immediately with the match against Génération Foot.”
As Casa Sports prepares for the 9th day of Ligue 1, facing a challenging away fixture against AS Pikine, optimism and momentum surround the club, aiming to continue their upward trajectory in the league standings.
