Carvajal turns to Spanish FA facilities as next career move remains undecided

Former Real Madrid captain Dani Carvajal is training at the Spanish Football Federation’s facilities in Las Rozas as uncertainty continues over his future.

Carvajal is using the base to maintain his fitness alongside former Real Madrid team-mate Joselu, with the pair combining gym work and sessions on the pitch.

According to Spanish newspaper Marca, both players are continuing to train seriously while they wait for the next stage of their careers to be settled. Their programme is designed to keep them in the best possible physical condition should developments emerge over their respective futures.

Neither Carvajal nor Joselu is currently associated with a club, making their next destinations a focus of interest given their experience in the game and their recent records.

Their decision to keep working at the Spanish FA’s facilities shows that neither player wants the uncertainty surrounding their careers to affect their readiness. They are maintaining a regular training routine until their next moves become clear.

Carvajal has enjoyed a distinguished career with Real Madrid and became one of the club’s leading figures during his time in the first team.

The defender came through Real Madrid’s youth system before spending a short period with Bayer Leverkusen. He returned to the Spanish club in 2013 and quickly established himself as a key part of the side.

Since then, Carvajal has won several major honours with Real Madrid, including the UEFA Champions League and La Liga. He also wore the captain’s armband and represented Spain as they won the European Championship.

He returned to Real Madrid on loan for the 2023-24 season and made an important contribution as the club won the UEFA Champions League. Joselu later moved to Qatari side Al Gharafa.
