Patrice Carteron, the former coach of the Malian national football team (Eagles), has been appointed as the new coach of TP Mazembe, the Lubumbashi club. Carteron justified his choice by expressing a desire to relive the daily pressures of coaching.
Carteron, who recently led Mali to the third place at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN), had initially decided to step away from coaching after spending a year in a country at war. However, the positive experience with Mali reignited his passion for coaching, prompting him to take on the challenge with TP Mazembe.
In his interview on RMC, Carteron mentioned, “I experienced something super nice in Mali. I really wanted to work every day, to be on the ground. I think I had given everything; I wanted something else.”
His new role with TP Mazembe marks a new chapter in Carteron’s coaching career, and he brings his experience and success from leading Mali to the podium in CAN-2013.
