Carlos Queiroz has reportedly ruled out replacing Sergio Pablo Brito as Wydad Athletic Club coach, with the Portuguese manager instead in advanced talks to take charge of Bahrain.

Queiroz resigned from his position as Ghana head coach recently, but reports linking him with a move to Wydad have been dismissed by a source close to the former Black Stars coach.

A source told Kooora that Queiroz is not close to taking over the Moroccan club and has not held talks with Wydad.

“Queiroz has not spoken to anyone from Morocco in recent days, and the news that he has entered into negotiations with Wydad or even made friendly contact with anyone there is baseless,” the source said.

Queiroz in talks with Bahrain

Instead, the former Ghana coach has reportedly opened serious negotiations with the Bahrain Football Association over becoming the national team’s new head coach.

According to a source close to Queiroz, the Portuguese manager has already met officials from the Bahraini federation to discuss taking charge of the team ahead of the 2027 Asian Cup.

He added: “Queiroz held a meeting with Bahraini federation officials to agree on coaching the national team, and the matter may be resolved in the next few days.”

Wydad continue search for Brito’s successor

The latest development means Queiroz is unlikely to be the man chosen to succeed his compatriot Sergio Pablo Brito at Wydad.

While the Moroccan club has been linked with the experienced Portuguese coach, the claims of negotiations have now been strongly denied by the source close to him.

Queiroz’s next move could instead be decided in Bahrain, where talks over the national team job are reportedly progressing towards an agreement.
