Carlo Ancelotti, the PSG coach, expressed his disappointment and reflected on the team’s performance following their elimination against Barcelona in the Champions League quarter-final. Despite a good 1-1 draw, it was not enough to secure qualification. Ancelotti acknowledged the team’s efforts and praised their display of courage on the field.
“We did everything possible to win. We played very well, showed courage. I’m disappointed because we were very close to winning. It was a great evening, but it would have been fantastic with the qualification,” Ancelotti stated.
He emphasized that the team gave their best and highlighted their strong performance, mentioning that PSG had only lost one out of ten matches in the competition. Ancelotti acknowledged the lack of experience, stating that many players were discovering the Champions League, but he believes that time will allow them to gain more experience and aim for a semi-final spot in future seasons.
“We have no regrets. We played ten matches, we only lost one. This course will be useful for the next seasons. We lack a little experience. Many players were discovering the Champions League. Only time will allow us to have more experience to reach the semi-final. This will be the objective for next season,” Ancelotti explained.
Despite the disappointment, Ancelotti expressed determination, noting that PSG still has two titles to compete for in the Championship and the Coupe de France. The coach seems focused on using the lessons learned from this campaign to build a stronger team for the future.
