Carlo Ancelotti, the new coach of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), expressed his disappointment following the team’s recent defeat to Saint-Etienne (1-2). Ancelotti characterized the loss as “ugly” and pointed out that the team’s lackluster performance was the primary reason for the setback.
He stated, “It’s an ugly defeat because we thought the team was in a good moment. We didn’t play well, and that’s why we lost. Saint-Etienne played better than us and deserved to win. We didn’t put any rhythm into the game, and our organization was not good. It’s normal to lose under such circumstances.”
Ancelotti addressed the contentious expulsion of Zlatan Ibrahimovic from the match, describing it as illogical. He defended Ibrahimovic, noting, “He didn’t deserve to be sent off because he was looking at the ball and not the goalkeeper. In the locker room, he didn’t say anything; he was disappointed. However, the real issue existed before that – we faced difficulties and lacked rhythm. Perhaps the game on Wednesday night took a toll on us. Despite winning nine matches before this one, maybe this serves as a good lesson for the future.”
