Carl Medjani, who was called up for Algeria’s match against Slovenia on March 5 as part of FIFA Day, may not be able to participate due to an injury sustained during a match between his club, Valenciennes, and Sochaux. He suffered an injury to his shoulder in the 80th minute of the game and underwent an MRI on Monday, revealing a shoulder contusion.
Fortunately, the injury is not as severe as initially feared, and Medjani resumed solo training sessions on Tuesday. Doctors have indicated that he could potentially be available for Valenciennes’ match against Reims in Ligue 1 this weekend.
Despite the injury scare, Medjani remains hopeful of claiming a place in the Algerian national team for the World Cup, and his recovery progress will be closely monitored by both his club and the national team staff.
