Miguel Cardoso hails Mamelodi Sundowns players after CAF Champions League glory

Miguel Cardoso praised his Mamelodi Sundowns players after guiding the South African giants to their second CAF Champions League title on Sunday following victory over AS FAR.

Sundowns End Years of Frustration

Sundowns secured continental glory with a 2-1 aggregate triumph over AS FAR, finally ending years of disappointment for both the club and their Portuguese coach.

The victory marked a special moment for Cardoso, who was appearing in his third consecutive CAF Champions League final after previously suffering heartbreak in the competition.

Cardoso Finally Gets His Reward

The Portuguese tactician had earlier fallen short with Espérance de Tunis against Al Ahly two seasons ago before losing another final with Sundowns against Pyramids FC last season.

This time, however, Cardoso successfully guided Sundowns to the top of African club football, securing the biggest trophy on the continent.

Following the final whistle, the emotional coach reserved special praise for his players, acknowledging the hard work and sacrifices they made throughout the difficult campaign.

“I dedicate this trophy to the fans who kept believing in us. The fans who kept pushing us, they really deserve this trophy,” said Cardoso as quoted on CAFOnline.

“It has been hard for my players and all the credit goes to them. I praise them for the work they have done. It has not been easy for them and for me.”
