Cape Verde appoint Humberto Bettencourt as new head coach
Cape Verde have appointed Humberto Bettencourt as their new head coach following the departure of Pedro “Bubista” Brito.
Bettencourt takes charge of the national team after Bubista left his position to become head coach of Moroccan club RS Berkane.
The appointment marks a new chapter for Cape Verde, who will look to maintain the progress made under Bubista while preparing for their upcoming international commitments.
Bubista had been an important figure in the development of the Blue Sharks during his time in charge and guided the team through a period of increased competitiveness on the international stage.
His departure created a vacancy that has now been filled by Bettencourt, who has been entrusted with leading the national side into its next phase.
The new coach inherits a squad that has established itself as one of the more competitive teams in African football and will be expected to build on the foundations laid by his predecessor.
Bettencourt’s immediate task will be to familiarise himself with the squad and prepare the team for its forthcoming fixtures as Cape Verde seek to continue their progress under new leadership.
The Cape Verde Football Federation will hope the appointment provides stability following Bubista’s exit and allows the national team to maintain its upward trajectory.
