Cape Town City turn down offer for Emile Witbooi

Cape Town City have reportedly turned down an offer from Polish Ekstraklasa club Górnik Zabrze for highly rated youngster Emile Witbooi.

Górnik Zabrze are understood to have shown serious interest in the talented midfielder and were keen to bring him to Poland. However, their proposal fell short of Cape Town City’s valuation of the player, with the South African club believed to be demanding around R20 million for his services.

The latest development adds another chapter to the uncertainty surrounding Witbooi’s future. The young midfielder has attracted attention from several clubs since making his breakthrough at Cape Town City, but despite repeated speculation about a possible departure, no move has materialised so far.

Witbooi’s performances have continued to generate interest, with his pace, technical ability and creativity making him one of the promising young talents to emerge from the Cape Town club in recent seasons.

There was also speculation that Orlando Pirates could make a move for the midfielder following the departure of Relebohile Mofokeng. Witbooi was mentioned as a possible candidate to fill the creative void, but those reports have not resulted in a transfer.

Górnik Zabrze’s interest now provides another indication of the growing attention surrounding Witbooi. However, Cape Town City’s decision to reject the Polish club’s initial proposal suggests they are unwilling to compromise on their valuation.

With the two clubs apparently some distance apart on the financial terms, it remains unclear whether Górnik Zabrze will return with an improved offer or turn their attention elsewhere.

For now, Witbooi remains a Cape Town City player, but with interest continuing to grow both locally and abroad, his future at the Mother City club is likely to remain a talking point as the transfer window progresses.
