CANAL+ unveils dedicated coverage to immerse Senegalese viewers in AFCON 2025
CANAL+ has rolled out an extensive broadcast and digital offering designed to place Senegalese audiences at the heart of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, with a dedicated channel and enhanced app features tailored specifically for the tournament in Morocco.
For the 35th edition of the continental competition, the broadcaster has launched CANAL+ AFCON, a channel created exclusively for the Africa Cup of Nations.
The initiative reflects CANAL+ Senegal’s commitment to delivering comprehensive coverage as Senegal prepares to compete on one of African football’s biggest stages.
The channel is positioned as the central destination for the tournament, combining live action with in-depth editorial content aimed at capturing the full atmosphere of the event.
All matches of the competition will be shown live on CANAL+ AFCON, ensuring uninterrupted access from the opening fixture through to the final.
In situations where fixtures are played simultaneously, additional broadcasts will be carried on CANAL+ SPORT 1, allowing viewers to follow every key moment.
This approach mirrors the strategy adopted during the group-stage schedule, where overlapping kick-off times required parallel coverage.
Beyond live matches, CANAL+ has put in place what it describes as a 360-degree editorial operation.
Journalists, consultants and experts will be deployed across the nine stadiums hosting matches in Morocco, providing analysis, reports and on-the-ground insight throughout the tournament.
The CANAL+ App has also been updated, with a dedicated section for CANAL+ AFCON designed to help subscribers keep track of fixtures, programmes and exclusive content in one place.
The event channel has been available to subscribers since December 1 on channel 16 as part of the ACCESS package.
Its programming extends beyond match coverage to include features celebrating the host nation, the qualified teams and the cultural diversity that surrounds the Africa Cup of Nations.
Viewers will also have access to behind-the-scenes footage, highlights and original productions aimed at conveying the intensity and emotion of the competition.
Two flagship studio programmes, AFCON DAY and AFCON EVENING, have been created specifically for the tournament.
Both shows are filmed on a bespoke set designed to reflect the identity of the Africa Cup of Nations and will offer daily discussions, previews and post-match analysis.
In addition, documentaries and reports such as TREASURES OF AFRICA, scheduled for broadcast in Senegal on Thursday, December 18 at 7:15pm GMT, form part of the wider editorial line-up.
To broaden access, CANAL+ has also introduced promotional offers linked to the tournament.
The HD decoder is now available at a reduced price of 1,000 FCFA instead of 5,000 FCFA, with satellite dish and installation included, starting from the ACCESS package.
Subscribers renewing a standard package will also benefit from temporary access to additional CANAL+ channels and the DSTV English Plus pack with SuperSport channels.
Together, these measures underline CANAL+ Senegal’s ambition to offer viewers an immersive and accessible way to experience the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, from the build-up to the final whistle.
