Canal SC make move for Ceramica Cleopatra midfielder Mohamed Adel

Newly promoted Canal SC have submitted a formal offer to sign Ceramica Cleopatra midfielder Mohamed Adel as they step up preparations for their return to the Egyptian Premier League.

Canal SC, who secured promotion to the top flight alongside Petrojet Asyut and Abu Qir Fertilizers, have approached Ceramica Cleopatra to negotiate a deal for the central midfielder, who is under contract with the Cairo-based club.

Adel has been with Ceramica Cleopatra since the summer of 2022, when he joined from Ismaily. He spent the second half of last season away from the club on loan at Al Mokawloon Al Arab.

Canal SC are looking to strengthen their squad across several positions ahead of the new campaign, with Adel identified as a key target to bolster their options in the middle of the pitch.

Canal SC step up recruitment drive

The move for Adel comes as part of a wider recruitment push by Canal SC following their promotion.

FilGoal.com previously reported that Canal SC had reached an agreement with Lebanon international Rami Najjarine to join the club on a free transfer. The winger is set to sign a three-year contract after the expiry of his deal with Australian side Wellington.

Najjarine, 26, is primarily deployed on the right wing and is expected to add creativity and pace in the attacking third.

In addition to the imminent arrival of Najjarine, Canal SC have also completed the signing of experienced forward Mohamed Hamdi Zaki on a three-year deal.

The acquisition of Hamdi Zaki, coupled with the move for Najjarine and the bid for Adel, underlines Canal SC’s intention to assemble a competitive squad capable of consolidating their place in the Premier League in their first season back at the top level.

Ceramica Cleopatra have yet to publicly comment on Canal SC’s offer for Adel, and the outcome of the negotiations will help shape both clubs’ plans as they continue to refine their squads before the new season kicks off.
