TOGO FACES TRANSPORT HURDLES AHEAD OF ZONE 3 AFRICAN VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT IN ACCRA
The Togolese volleyball teams are facing major logistical challenges as they prepare to participate in the Zone 3 African Cup of Nations Volleyball Tournament, scheduled to take place in Accra, Ghana, from August 19 to 26, 2015.
The crux of the problem lies in transportation. The Togolese delegation has not been able to secure a bus to travel to Ghana. Despite several attempts, the Togolese Volleyball Federation has failed to obtain a suitable vehicle from the Togolese National Olympic Committee (CNOT). The bus initially considered by CNOT was reportedly in poor condition, rendering it unfit for the journey.
In a last-minute attempt to resolve the issue, the Togolese officials turned to Benin, their neighbor to the east. They proposed joining the Beninese delegation’s transport during its scheduled stop in Lomé. Encouragingly, the Beninese authorities appear to have accepted the request.
However, morale within the Togolese team is low. The uncertainty surrounding their travel plans has taken a toll on the players’ mindset and motivation. This disrupted preparation could impact their performance in the regional competition, which brings together top national teams from West Africa.
With time running out, the Togolese contingent is hoping for a smooth departure with the Beninese delegation and a swift boost in team spirit before the tournament kicks off.
