Morocco U20 Team Hit by Key Absences Ahead of Togo Clash
The Morocco U20 national team has been dealt a significant setback ahead of their second-leg match against Togo in the Africa U20 Cup of Nations qualifiers, with Mohammed El Bouazzati and Sofiane Amrabat ruled out of the game.
El Bouazzati, who featured in the first leg in Lomé — a match Morocco won 2-0 — will not be available for the return leg. The Borussia Dortmund defender was only released for one match by his club, and coach Abdellah El Idrissi opted to use him in the first leg.
Meanwhile, Amrabat is unable to join due to overlapping club responsibilities with FC Utrecht, including a key fixture and academic obligations, such as school exams. Although not on the FIFA calendar, coach El Idrissi remains hopeful that Amrabat might still rejoin the squad at the last minute.
Despite these absences, Morocco will still be able to count on seven Europe-based players, including Karim Achahbar, Chihab Fallat, Younes Boudadi, Oussayd Belkouche, Achraf Achaoui, Nabil Jaadi, and Hicham Khaloua, who have all confirmed their availability for the match.
