Algerian Referee Trio Appointed for Libya-Tunisia U20 Qualifier
The African Football Confederation (CAF) has appointed an Algerian referee trio to officiate the crucial Libya-Tunisia match, which is part of the second and penultimate round of qualifiers for the 2015 U20 Africa Cup of Nations in Senegal. The match is scheduled for Sunday, May 11, at 5:00 p.m. in Blida, Algeria.
Mehdi Abid Charef will serve as the central referee, assisted by Sid Ali Brahim Hamlaoui and Mohamed Bichari, both from Algeria. Sudanese Salih Tarig Atta will act as the match commissioner.
The match will be held in Algeria following CAF’s decision to prohibit international fixtures in Libya due to the ongoing security concerns in the country.
Both teams have already secured their places in the final stage of the qualifiers. Tunisia advanced after defeating Mauritania 3-1 in the first leg in Tunis and 3-0 in Nouakchott. Libya qualified by overcoming Chad, winning 1-0 in the first leg in N’Djamena and 3-0 in the return leg in Tunis. The return fixture between Libya and Tunisia is set to take place in Tunis between May 23 and 25.
