Abdelghani Djadaoui, who is now involved in the delicate mission of leading the Algerian Junior team, shared his insights on their performance in the opening match of the U20 football CAN. The team faced Benin, resulting in a 0-0 draw, and Djadaoui expressed his observations.
Djadaoui, a former coach of the Algerian national team and a recruiting agent for FC Sochaux, highlighted that the national team faced challenges in the midfield, where they didn’t perform as desired. He noted that such matches, especially the first one, are always difficult for the organizing country due to additional pressure.
He added, “In such meetings, the first match is always difficult for the selection of the organizing country, which is under additional pressure compared to its opponents. This was the case for our team this time, knowing that most of its players are not used to playing in front of packed stands.”
Looking ahead, Egypt is Algeria’s next opponent, setting the stage for a North African derby in the U20 CAN.
