Egyptian national team’s participation in the 12th edition of the African Cup of Nations under 20 in Algeria.
It’s interesting to note that the Egyptian delegation consists of 28 people, including 21 players. The team is placed in Group A alongside Algeria, Ghana, and Benin. The matches will be held at the Ain Témouchent stadium, and the Junior Pharaohs are scheduled to play against Ghana on March 16, Algeria on March 19, and Benin on March 22.
The Egyptian team, with a notable record of ten participations in the U-20 CAN, comprises 19 local players and two players based abroad, namely Ahmed Hassan Koka from Rio Ave, Portugal, and Amir Adel from PSV, Netherlands.
Dr. Sahar El Hawary, the head of the Egyptian delegation and a member of the FIFA women’s football committee, has expressed the desire to see the team reach the semi-finals of the competition. It will be interesting to follow their journey in the tournament and see how they perform against strong opponents in their group.
