Claude Leroy, the coach of DR Congo, expressed pride in his team’s performance after they managed to draw 2-2 against Ghana in Port Elizabeth. Despite being down 2-0 at halftime, DR Congo mounted a comeback, and Leroy commended the qualities and character of his players.
“I am proud of this team. I hope that the whole country will now be behind this team in which there is a wonderful atmosphere,” said Leroy. He highlighted the players’ determination and resilience, stating, “To come back from 2-0 to 2-2 against a team like Ghana, you have to have great qualities. The players deserved this point after all the problems we had.”
Leroy expressed optimism and ambition for the team’s performance in the remainder of the competition.
