The Ivory Coast national under-17 football team, known as the Cadet Elephants, has received a stroke of luck as they will not have to participate in the preliminary round of the 2013 CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nations. Chad, the supposed opponent for the West Africans at this stage, has withdrawn from the competition.
The Ivorian Football Federation (FIF), through its official website, announced that it had received a letter from the Chadian Football Federation informing them of the withdrawal of Chad’s under-17 team.
The 2013 CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nations is scheduled to take place in Morocco from April 13 to 27. With Chad’s withdrawal, Ivory Coast’s under-17 team now awaits the next phase of the competition without having to go through the preliminary round.
