The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has assigned Egyptian referees for the return match in the final round of the CAN 2013 qualifiers between Cameroon and Cape Verde.
The trio from Egypt, featuring central referee Greisha Gihed and assistants Degaish Aymen and Ashor Mahmoud, will officiate the crucial encounter between the Indomitable Lions and the Blue Sharks on October 14 at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaoundé. The officiating team is complemented by Malian Souleymane Magassouba, who has been designated as the commissioner, and Nigerian Paul Bassey, who will serve as the security officer.
Cameroon faces the challenge of overcoming a two-goal deficit to secure a spot in the continental competition in South Africa, scheduled to take place from January 19 to February 10. In the first leg, the Cameroonian squad, then under the management of Denis Lavagne, suffered a 2-0 defeat. Since that match, the French coach has been relieved of his duties, and Jean Paul Akono has taken charge, prompting a resurgence of morale, including the return of discontented players such as Samuel Eto’o.
