Guinea has submitted a bid to host the African Cup of Nations (CAN) in either 2019 or 2021. A delegation from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has visited the country since Monday to inspect the four proposed sites for hosting the competition.
Led by Amadou Diakité from Mali, the delegation began their inspection in Labé on Tuesday, where they assessed accommodation facilities and other infrastructure. Following Labé, they proceeded to Kankan.
On Thursday, the delegation will conduct a comprehensive inspection of facilities in the capital city, Conakry, before concluding their visit in Nzérékoré.
The Guinean Minister of Sports emphasized to the CAF delegation that many of the requirements for hosting the competition align with Guinea’s ongoing development needs. He assured the delegation that the country is committed to meeting all necessary criteria for hosting the tournament.
