SENEGAL: KOULIBALY UNDECIDED ABOUT JOINING LIONS AHEAD OF NAMIBIA CLASH
Senegal coach Aliou Cissé may have to do without Kalidou Koulibaly for the second day of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Namibia. Although the Napoli defender was named in the squad, he has not yet responded to the call-up, and his participation remains uncertain.
Speaking to L’Observateur, Koulibaly’s agent revealed the player is still reflecting on his international future:
“He hasn’t made a decision yet. He’s flattered by the call-up, but he needs to think about it. Kalidou hasn’t yet committed to the Senegal national team. He wants to discuss it with his family first. It’s not something he’ll decide on immediately,” the agent explained, as relayed by Afrik-Foot.
Cissé, who has been rebuilding Senegal’s squad with young talent, now faces a potential defensive void and must consider alternative options should the Franco-Senegalese defender opt not to join the squad.
The uncertainty surrounding Koulibaly’s international allegiance adds another layer of complexity, as FIFA eligibility rules would make his eventual decision binding.
