Ryad Mahrez Recovers and Returns to Algeria Training Ahead of Lesotho Clash
Good news for Algeria as midfielder Ryad Mahrez has recovered from a back injury and rejoined training with the national team ahead of their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Lesotho.
The Leicester City star, who has impressed early in the Premier League season with four goals, took part in his first session since the team regrouped under coach Christian Gourcuff. Mahrez initially trained individually under assistant coach Yazid Mansouri before fully reintegrating with the squad.
With his fitness restored, Mahrez is expected to retain his place in the starting lineup for Sunday’s crucial Group J encounter. Algeria currently share the top spot with Ethiopia, both sitting on three points, but the Fennecs hold a superior goal difference (+4 compared to Ethiopia’s +1).
Meanwhile, Ethiopia prepares to face the Seychelles in Victoria as the race for qualification intensifies. Algeria will look to capitalize on Mahrez’s return to secure a vital win and strengthen their position in the group.
