Algeria Eye Vital Win Against Lesotho in CAN 2017 Qualifier
Algeria are determined to secure all three points as they face Lesotho in their 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier later today. After a week of preparation in the cold and high-altitude conditions of southern Africa, Les Fennecs are focused on one objective: victory.
Midfielder Ryad Boudebouz, speaking to Le Buteur, stressed the importance of staying sharp despite Algeria being favourites on paper.
“We’re going for the win, we’ll give everything to take the three points, Inch’Allah,” he said. “People may think it’s an easy match, but nothing is guaranteed. We’ll have to fight hard to win today.”
Boudebouz acknowledged the potential difficulties of playing in unfamiliar conditions, particularly the state of the pitch, but remains confident in his team’s adaptability.
“We’ve come here for one goal—victory. We know we can overcome the challenges,” he added.
Despite Algeria’s strength, the Montpellier playmaker urged caution and discipline.
“Even if Lesotho are not a powerhouse, these matches require focus. We must work on improving ourselves rather than underestimating the opponent.”
Algeria top their group after an emphatic opening win and will be looking to build momentum with another strong performance away from home.
