Honour Janza Unveils Zambia Squad Ahead of Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers
Newly appointed Zambia coach Honour Janza has announced his squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Mozambique and Cape Verde. Janza, who was promoted from technical director following Patrice Beaumelle’s departure, revealed a mix of experienced and young talent in his selection.
Among the notable inclusions are two strikers from TP Mazembe, Jonas Sakuwaha—returning to the national team for the first time since the 2013 African Cup of Nations—and Given Singuluma. The squad also features Mazembe teammates Rainford Kalaba and Kabaso Chongo, underscoring the club’s continued influence on the national side.
Janza has also placed confidence in several members of the Under-20 squad who participated in their respective qualifiers. Defenders Kayawe Kapota (Kafue Celtic) and Alex Mwamba (Power Dynamos), along with striker Patrick “Dude” Ngoma, have earned call-ups to the senior team.
Zambia is scheduled to play a friendly against Sudan on August 31 as part of their preparations for the crucial qualifiers.
