CAN 2015 Qualifiers – Algeria Seek Perfect Finish in Bamako
Algeria are set to wrap up their 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign this Wednesday in Bamako, facing a determined Mali side that must win to keep its hopes of qualification alive. For the Fennecs, who have already punched their ticket to Equatorial Guinea, the objective is simple: finish the group stage with a perfect record.
Despite having nothing at stake in terms of standings, Yacine Brahimi insists that Algeria will approach the match with full seriousness and professionalism.
“We know that it’s going to be extremely difficult today, especially since we’re going into this match four days after playing a full match against Ethiopia,” Brahimi told lebuteur.com. “But we have to adapt and recover well to be ready.”
With five wins in five matches, Algeria have shown why they are currently one of Africa’s most formidable teams. Yet for Brahimi and his teammates, maintaining momentum and pride is key:
“It’s true that it won’t change much in the standings, but we have to respect our status and play our usual football. We’re going for the win.”
Brahimi concluded with a message of ambition and belief:
“It would be magnificent to secure a sixth win and finish in style. We came to Bamako to play a great game and take all three points. Inshallah, we will succeed.”
Kickoff is set for this evening at the Stade du 26 Mars in Bamako. While Algeria aim for perfection, Mali are under pressure to win and avoid elimination — a setup that promises intensity and drama in Group B.
