Kenya Wins 2015 Women’s African Nations Volleyball Championship
Nairobi, Saturday – Host nation Kenya claimed the 2015 Women’s African Nations Volleyball Championship, defeating Algeria in straight sets (25-17, 25-21, 25-20) in the final held in Nairobi.
This dominant performance earned Kenya their ninth continental title, successfully defending the crown they last won in 2013. Standout performances came from Brackside Agala, Ruth Jepnegetich, Mercy Moim, and Evelyne Makuto, whose attacking prowess overwhelmed the Algerian side led by captain Fatima Zohra Oukazi.
Algeria, aiming for a repeat of their 2009 success at home in Blida, fell short in their fourth final appearance (2007, 2009, 2011, 2015). History repeated itself, as Kenya had also bested Algeria in previous finals, notably in 2007 and 2011.
With their top-two finishes, Kenya and Algeria have secured their tickets to the FIVB Women’s World Championship in Japan, set to take place from August 22 to September 6, 2015. This marks yet another milestone for Kenyan volleyball, reaffirming their status as queens of the continent.
