Sixteen Teams Confirmed for 2015 Africa Cup of Nations

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially confirmed the sixteen teams that will participate in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), set to take place in Equatorial Guinea from January 17 to February 8, 2015. This announcement comes at the conclusion of the final day of qualifiers on Wednesday, November 19.
While some teams, including South Africa, Algeria, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Senegal, Tunisia, and Zambia, had already secured their spots before the last round of qualifiers, others waited until the final day to clinch their places. Congo, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Guinea, Mali, and DR Congo – the best third-placed team – all sealed their qualification with crucial results in the final round of matches.
These teams will now prepare for the prestigious tournament, which is set to be hosted by Equatorial Guinea following Morocco’s withdrawal. The AFCON will bring together the continent’s top footballing nations to compete for the coveted title of African champions.
