Uganda vs Ghana: Sudanese Officials to Oversee Crucial AFCON Qualifier in Kampala

As the race for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) intensifies, Group E leaders Ghana are set to face Uganda in a pivotal qualifier in Kampala. The high-stakes encounter, scheduled for Saturday, will be officiated by a team of Sudanese referees.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed El Fadi Mohammed Hussein as the centre referee. He will be supported by assistant referees Waleed Ahmed Ali and Mohammed Idam Idam Hamid, while Badr El Din Abdel will serve as the liaison referee. The match commissioner, overseeing all technical and logistical aspects, will be Ethiopian official Asfaw Luleseged Begashaw.
Boniface Oryema, an official with the Uganda Football Association, confirmed that the referee team has arrived and is already preparing for the match.
“The referees are already in the country and have started preparing for Saturday’s match,” Oryema told local outlet Kawowo Sports.
The stakes could not be higher. Ghana currently tops the group with 8 points from four matches, while Togo trails closely with 6 points. Uganda and Guinea are locked on 4 points each, making every remaining fixture crucial for qualification.
For Uganda, home advantage at Namboole Stadium presents a critical opportunity to revive their campaign. Meanwhile, Ghana, buoyed by an unbeaten run in the qualifiers so far, will be aiming to secure their place at the 2015 finals with a win on the road.
The match not only carries implications for qualification but also adds to the intensity of one of Africa’s most competitive groups, where a single result could dramatically alter the standings.
