Senegal Arrives Early in Equatorial Guinea Ahead of AFCON 2015
Initially scheduled to remain in Al Jadidah, Morocco until January 17, the Senegal national team has decided to arrive in Equatorial Guinea a day earlier, landing on the evening of Thursday, January 16.
This change in schedule was confirmed by the Senegalese Football Federation and members of the team’s technical staff. The decision aligns with a directive from COCAN, the local organizing committee, which has requested all 16 participating teams and delegations—regardless of their match venue (Malabo, Bata, Ebebiyin, or Mongomo)—to first transit through the capital, Malabo, for Ebola-related health protocols.
Following their stop in Malabo, the Lions of Teranga are expected to fly directly to Mongomo, the site of their group-stage fixtures, on the same special flight used for their arrival from Morocco.
Senegal heads into the tournament with confidence after a strong 5–2 victory over Guinea in their final warm-up match.
