Togo’s hopes of qualifying for the 2015 African Cup of Nations are dwindling after another disappointing result. Following their opening defeat to Guinea, the Hawks of Togo suffered a home loss to Ghana’s Black Stars on Wednesday, with the match ending 3-2 in favor of Ghana.
Togo started strong, taking the lead in the 11th minute thanks to Floyd Ayité. However, Ghana quickly responded, with Asamoah Gyan equalizing in the 23rd minute and Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu putting Ghana ahead before halftime in the 34th minute.
In the second half, Emmanuel Adebayor leveled the score for Togo in the 76th minute, raising hopes for at least a draw. But Ghana’s Christian Atsu sealed the win with a late goal in the 85th minute, securing a vital victory for the Black Stars.
This win puts Ghana back on track after a shaky start, while Togo faces an uphill battle to qualify.
