Togo’s Hawks Fly Presidential for Crucial AFCON Qualifier
The Togolese national team departed this morning aboard the presidential plane bound for Casablanca ahead of their 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Guinea on Friday. The gesture came directly from President Faure Gnassingbé following a meeting with captain Emmanuel Adebayor.
Adebayor welcomed the move as a boost for team morale and criticized earlier plans for a fragmented journey via commercial flights. “A national team travels together,” he emphasized, calling attention to ongoing organizational issues within Togolese football.
The squad completed their final training session in Lomé on Wednesday, with all players, including Serge Akakpo—who had been managing a minor muscle concern—fit and ready for the upcoming challenge.
