Seydou Keita Ruled Out of Ethiopia Clash Due to Injury
Mali will be without their captain Seydou Keita for the crucial return leg against Ethiopia in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. The AS Roma midfielder was stretchered off in the 30th minute during the first leg in Addis Ababa, which Mali won 2-0.
Keita confirmed his absence to the Malian press, saying:
“Too bad! We’re going to take X-rays to assess the extent of the injury.”
His injury is a major setback for the Eagles of Mali, who will host Ethiopia this Wednesday at the Stade du 26 Mars in Bamako. Despite Keita’s absence, Mali remains in a strong position, while Ethiopia, having lost all three of their group matches, is on the brink of elimination.
