Emmanuel Adebayor Leads Togo’s Lineup for Crucial AFCON Qualifier Against Guinea
Emmanuel Adebayor is confirmed in the starting lineup for Togo’s opening match in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Guinea this Friday at the Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca. An exclusive look at the Hawks’ formation reveals just one change from earlier projections.
The defensive line includes Zesco United’s Emmanuel Mathias positioned on the right flank, with Gafar Mamah covering the left. The midfield features a solid four-man setup, with Alaixys Romao anchoring the defensive midfield role. Serge Gakpé and Floyd Ayité provide width from the wings, while Jonathan Ayité partners Adebayor up front to spearhead the attack.
Having arrived in Casablanca on Thursday, the team conducted their pitch reconnaissance only this Friday morning. Speaking ahead of the match, captain Emmanuel Adebayor expressed his readiness and commitment:
“We answered the call. Now, we are here to play for the country and defend the nation’s colours. We will do everything to ensure this is a good preparation for the CAN. As you know, we are here to win. It will be difficult, we are playing against Guinea, Ghana in Lomé. I think that with our friends, we are all ready. We will try to give the best of ourselves and we will see what happens.”
Meanwhile, midfielder Matthieu Dossevi remains sidelined, still awaiting the completion of his paperwork and FIFA clearance.
