AFCON 2015 Qualifiers: Mali Bounces Back with 2-0 Win Over Ethiopia
After a setback against Algeria on Matchday 2, Mali returned to winning ways in style with a 2-0 away victory over Ethiopia on Saturday in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The Eagles, led by coach Henry Kasperczak, showed intent from the start and quickly took control of the game at Addis Ababa Stadium. Abdoulaye Diaby broke the deadlock in the 33rd minute, while Sambou Yatabaré doubled the lead just after the hour mark (60′) to seal the win.
This crucial victory lifts Mali to six points, keeping them in second place in Group B, trailing group leaders Algeria, who also secured a 2-0 win over Malawi. The next test for Mali comes on Wednesday, when they host Malawi for Matchday 4—a fixture that could prove decisive in the race for qualification to Morocco 2015.
