Guinea–Togo Qualifier Likely to Be Held in Morocco Due to Ebola Outbreak
Due to the ongoing Ebola crisis, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has ordered Guinea to play its 2015 AFCON qualifiers on neutral ground. As a result, Guinea is considering Morocco as the venue for its match against Togo, scheduled for September 5. The exact Moroccan city is yet to be confirmed.
CAF’s decision also affects Liberia and Sierra Leone. Sierra Leone, for its part, is seeking approval from Ghana to host DR Congo in Accra on September 10.
According to the World Health Organization, the Ebola outbreak has infected 1,848 people and claimed 1,013 lives across Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, and Nigeria.
