AFCON 2015 Qualifiers: Egypt Back on Track with 2-0 Win Over Botswana

Egypt revived their hopes of qualifying for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations with a solid 2-0 away victory over Botswana in Gaborone on Friday, during the third matchday of the qualifiers.

Despite a goalless first half, the Pharaohs came out stronger in the second period:

  • Mohamed El Neny opened the scoring in the 56th minute

  • Mohamed Salah sealed the win with a penalty shortly after

Egypt XI:

This win helps Egypt bounce back from earlier defeats to Senegal and Tunisia. Meanwhile, Botswana faces an uphill battle after a third consecutive loss in the group.

Later on the same day, Senegal and Tunisia, both unbeaten, were set to clash in Dakar at 8 p.m. GMT, with the winner taking the top spot in the group.
