CAN 2015: President Ali Bongo Congratulates the Panthers on Their Victory

Aubameyang Shines as Gabon Beats Burkina Faso 2-0 in AFCON Qualifiers

Gabon secured a crucial 2-0 win over Burkina Faso on Saturday in the third round of qualifying for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), set to be held in Morocco. The victory came thanks to a brilliant brace from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who continues to lead the Panthers with confidence and efficiency.

The result puts Gabon in a strong position at the top of Group C, with 7 points, ahead of Burkina Faso, who remain on 6 points. The match between Angola and Lesotho ended in a goalless draw, allowing Gabon to take sole control of the group standings.

Following the win, President Ali Bongo expressed his delight on Facebook, stating:

“I would like to warmly congratulate the Panthers for this very fine victory, 2 goals to 0, against the Stallions of Burkina Faso! This performance confirms the excellent form of our team, which, by winning this very important match, sets a date for the 2015 CAN. I salute the members of the management and the federation who contributed to this success. Finally, I also congratulate the opposing team for the beautiful spectacle that was put on for us.”

Group C Standings After Matchday 3:

  1. Gabon – 7 pts

  2. Burkina Faso – 6 pts
