South Africa Edges Zambia 1-0 in Africa Cup of Nations Warm-up
In their first preparatory match ahead of the 2015 African Cup of Nations, South Africa’s Bafana Bafana secured a narrow 1-0 win over Zambia on Sunday.
The decisive goal came late in the game, at the 81st minute, scored by substitute Thuso Phala, who was expertly set up by Bernard Parker. The match also saw two key players leave due to injuries: Thabo Matlaba for South Africa and Kennedy Mweene for Zambia.
After this encounter, South Africa will travel to Gabon for further preparations, including a friendly match against Mali. At the tournament, Bafana Bafana is drawn in Group C alongside Algeria, Ghana, and Senegal.
Meanwhile, Zambia remains in South Africa for ongoing training. The Chipolopolo will compete in Group B against Tunisia, Cape Verde, and DR Congo.
