Cameroon Held Again: 1-1 Draw vs South Africa in CAN 2015 Warm-Up
The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon were held to a second consecutive 1-1 draw on Saturday, this time against South Africa, in a friendly match played in Libreville, Gabon. It’s another lukewarm result for Volker Finke’s side as they prepare for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Cameroon opened the scoring early in the 6th minute with a superb free kick from Vincent Aboubakar, raising hopes of a confident display. However, they failed to maintain control and allowed Bafana Bafana to grow into the game.
The South Africans were rewarded in the second half when Sibusiso Vilakazi found the net, equalizing for the team coached by Shakes Mashaba.
This result follows Cameroon’s earlier 1-1 draw against DR Congo in Yaoundé, raising concerns over the team’s form heading into the tournament.
