Beninese football faces organizational challenges once again. Didier Ollé Nicolle and his team, known as the Squirrels, encountered issues during their journey to Equatorial Guinea en route to Sao Tome and Principe for their African Cup of Nations qualifying match against the local team.
The team departed from Cotonou without their goalkeeper coach, Jonas Bidé, as his travel was deemed unnecessary by the Ministry of Sports due to oversight regarding his plane ticket.
Consequently, French coach Didier Ollé Nicolle might have to take on additional responsibilities, showcasing his skills as a goalkeeper coach during the upcoming match.
Despite these setbacks, the Benin Football Federation (FBF) members accompanied the team, including star player Stéphane Sessegnon. The Benin national team is expected to arrive in Sao Tome and Principe tonight.
The qualifying match is set to take place on Saturday at the 12 De Julho stadium at 3 p.m.
