Mauritania Secures Spot in CAN 2015 Second Round

Mauritania has successfully advanced to the second round of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) qualifiers, following a commanding 2-0 victory over Mauritius on Sunday. This result builds on their 1-0 win from the previous weekend in Nouakchott, ensuring their place in the next phase of the competition.

The match saw defender Demba Sow and dynamic midfielder Ahmed Moulaye “Bessam” score the goals that sealed the win for the Mourabitounes. Coach Patrice Neveu’s men delivered a solid performance, maintaining their strong form in the qualifiers.

With the victory, Mauritania joins a growing list of teams moving forward to the next stage, which includes Benin, Botswana, Burundi, and several other nations from across the African continent. The final draw for the second and third rounds, as well as the group stage of the tournament, will take place on April 27 in Cairo.

The qualifying campaign continues to heat up as teams aim for a spot in the prestigious tournament scheduled to be held in Morocco.
