The draw for the CAN 2015 qualifiers was conducted by CAF last Sunday, revealing the matchups for the playoffs and the composition of the groups. Togo’s national team, the Eperviers, finds themselves in Group E alongside Ghana and Guinea-Conakry. The fourth team in the group will be determined after the preliminary matches between Madagascar vs Uganda and Mauritania vs Equatorial Guinea. Togo faces a challenging task ahead, especially considering the internal disputes affecting their football. Additionally, there’s a well-known rivalry between Togo and Ghana.
“It’s a pretty tough group. But you have to deal with it. Above all, we must prepare well for these qualifiers. I believe that the leaders of the Togolese Federation are looking for a new coach. […] Are Togo favorites to qualify, given their performance at CAN 2013? Maybe yes, maybe no… After CAN 2013, there were still a lot of problems with the selection. To have a good qualifying run, we must already overcome all these problems and get off to a good start…” shared Kossi Agassa, Togo’s goalkeeper, as reported by RFI.
