Ghana’s Black Stars Begin 2015 AFCON Preparations in Seville
Ghana’s training camp for the 2015 African Cup of Nations kicked off on Monday in Seville, Spain. Coach Avram Grant trimmed his provisional squad to 26 players, departing the team on Sunday.
Notably absent is Trabzonspor striker Majeed Waris, who is battling an injury and could miss the tournament. Grant is monitoring his condition closely and will decide on his participation at the last moment.
The 26-man squad features key players including Edwin Gyimah, Afriyie Acquah, Agyemang Badu, Mubarak Wakaso, Rabiu Mohammed, Christian Atsu, Solomon Asante, Ibrahim Moro, Andre Ayew, Frank Acheampong, Asamoah Gyan, Kwesi Appiah, David Accam, and Jordan Ayew.
Ghana departed Accra with a clear mind after resolving bonus disputes with the government. The Seville camp will last 10 days before the team heads to Equatorial Guinea, where the Black Stars face a tough Group C, often called the “Group of Death,” alongside Algeria, Senegal, and South Africa.
