The draw for the CAN 2015 qualifiers, initially scheduled for Sunday, March 10, in Marrakech, Morocco, has been postponed. CAF (Confederation of African Football) has decided to reschedule the ceremony to January or early February 2014 in South Africa. This decision was made during the meeting of the Executive Committee of CAF on Friday.
The format of the competition has also been determined. It will consist of a preliminary round involving ten teams competing in pairs, with the five qualified teams joining 43 others to form twelve groups of four teams each. The winner of each group and the three best runners-up will qualify for the final tournament in Morocco.
The preliminary round will consider the FIFA ranking, while the CAF ranking will be the reference for the group stage.
