Boubacar Barry Copa, the goalkeeper of the Ivory Coast national team, shared his thoughts on the draw for the qualifying groups for the next African Cup of Nations (CAN). The draw, conducted by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) on April 27 in Cairo, placed Ivory Coast in Group D alongside Cameroon and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).
Barry Copa acknowledged the quality of the teams in Group D, referring to Cameroon and the DRC as countries of great footballing ability. Despite the tough competition, he expressed his team’s excitement to face such challenging opponents, emphasizing their commitment to progress and enjoyment in the game. He acknowledged the difficulty of the task but emphasized their determination to qualify, regardless of the opponents they face.
The top two teams from each group and the best third-placed team will advance to the final phase of the tournament, joining the host country, Morocco. The matches will be held in the cities of Rabat, Agadir, Tangier, and Marrakech.
